OMI
OMI is a division of CH2M HILL Engineering. OMI is one of the largest contract operating firms in the United States and is entirely US/Employee owned. OMI operates the Norwalk facilities as part of a long term 20 year contract that started in 2000. While the WPCA continues to own all of the facilities and sets its own rates, OMI is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the facilities, all of the staff and operating costs for the treatment plant, pumping stations and collection system.
Principal Project Staff
John Ahern – Mr. Ahern is a former NYC DEP employee with 30 years of experience in the wastewater field. He is the former Superintendant of the 80 MGD Tallman Island WWTP and later promoted from Assistant Superintendent to Superintendent of the 275 MGD Ward’s Island WWTP in NYC. John has a NYS grade 4A certificate and is in the process of obtaining a Connecticut Class IV Wastewater Operator’s License.
Robert Sardaro – Mr. Sardaro is a former City of Norwalk employee and has worked for OMI from the start of the present contract. He has 34 years of experience at the Norwalk facility and others. Bob was the former Laboratory Manager in Norwalk and is currently the Assistant Project Manager. He holds a Connecticut Class IV Wastewater Operator’s License.
